Formed in 1998, MWO has had 7 years of illustrious
experience in bringing quality music to music
lovers and the community. Each year the band
has a few performances, bringing music to the
people of all ages not only at the various concert
halls, but also to the heartlands of Singapore
during the festive periods. The Wind Orchestra
has held genre-themed concerts like Latin, Jazz,
Musicals and Movie Soundtracks and also had
fund raising concerts, including one held at
the Esplanade Concert Hall with popular old
time singer, Ms Frances Yip. Do check out the

MWO has constantly been active in recruiting
band enthusiasts. Being a community group with
players coming from different races and religions,
MWO welcomes all amateur musicians who would
like to further pursue their interest in wind
music after graduating from their respective
education institutes.
Having members
from all walks of life, it is one of the rare
groups in Singapore where students are found
working alongside with adults, who not only
guide them musically, but also through management
skills when it comes to execution of projects
and events. In July 2003, MWO has been accredited
with the prestigious PSB ISO 9001:2000 Quality
Management System Standard. This indicates that
the management of the Wind Orchestra has met
the stringent requirements in ISO 9001:2000
Quality Management Systems Standard. |

In July 2005, MWO pitted itself against bands from
the international scene at the 15th World Music Contest
(WMC) in Kerkrade, the Netherlands, and achieved a
Gold award in the 2nd division. Previously, the band
was awarded 2nd prize in the 3rd division at the 14th
WMC. This greater achievement proves the orchestra's
undying efforts in pursuing higher standard of performance
and is the result of the countless hours spent by
its members voluntarily for sectionals as well as
rehearsals. In this contest, we also had the privilege
to have our consultant and friend, Dr. Hardy Mertens
and ex-SAF Band Senior Director Major Tonni Wei, composed
our choice piece ("Iris") and warm up piece ("Rebirth")
respectively, which were premiered at the contest. Click
here for the press release on our achievement!
Over
the years, the band has also done exchanges and combined
concerts with overseas groups such as the Frysk Fanfare
Orchestra (the Netherlands) and Lao Silesu (Italy),
both of which are concert division bands at the 15th
World Music Contest. In our pursuit to reach higher
standards of wind music making and to increase the
public awareness of wind music as a performing art
in Singapore, Mus'Art Wind Orchestra will continue
in its efforts to create a place of excellence in
wind band music.
